The ATHIKA kick-off meeting in Barcelona
The European ATHIKA (Advanced Training in Health Innovation Knowledge Alliance) project was born with the purpose of bringing a humanistic approach to the engineering education while addressing the most important new research in the world of AI and IoT linked to Healthcare. We are going to do it by building a set of advanced training programs for, involving academia, health public administration, SMEs, startups and entrepreneurs, and health business consultants. The variety of profiles of ATHIKA partners will provide a complete perspective of the sector and will enable the identification of the more urgent challenges in the health sector.
Even the project has started on January 2019, until the past 26th June 2019 it was not possible to bring physically together all the partners of the project in Barcelona. The consortium of the ATHIKA project is composed by three Universities (Ramon Llull University (Spain), University of West Scotland (Scotland) and University of Tartu (Estonia) and six Companies (Technopolis Group (Estonia), MCRIT (Spain), Fundació Tic Salut Social (Spain), Pharmatics (Scotland), Technosens (France), Kaunas STP (Lithuania).
The ATHIKA kick-off meting took place in Barcelona, where more defined roadmap of the project was set. It was decided, that:
- Universities will work on the design and develop an interdisciplinary course (about Internet of Things, AI & Data Analytics and Governance & Ethics in eHealth), which is going to be deployed during the Academic year 20-21.
- Companies are going to define challenges and scenarios to be solved by the ATHIKA students during the closing Workshops of the course during the second trimester of 2021.
- A competition will be set with the objective of rewarding the winners from the Universities with a two weeks mobility in the companies of the consortium during July 2021. The main objective of the mobility is working in interdisciplinary groups, formed by students from the three Universities, creating a proof of concept of the proposed solution for the challenge proposed by the companies.
In this meeting partners discussed about the effective project development, both from an organizational-functional point of view and from both intellectual, dissemination and quality objectives. This meeting also served for better introduce of team members and organizations represented.
