Initiative/Program: Smart Health TeleRehab

Overview: This program is a national telehealth initiative that is supposed to empower patients to take control of their own care. The initiative specifically allows physical rehabilitation patients to do their exercises from a remote location at the time of their choice through the use of wearable sensors that track data for physicians to monitor either in real-time or at a later time of their choice. The wearable sensors go on the patient’s neck and limbs and then go through their prescribed exercises with demonstration videos and instructions. The data collected by the sensors is analyzed by the solution’s algorithm and performance data is relayed to therapists for review on their smart metrics dashboard. The program is designed to give physical rehabilitation patients greater freedom and allow healthcare providers to be more efficient and productive by reducing the time needed with each individual patient.
