Initiative/Program: No-Show Predictive Model

Overview: This predictive model gives healthcare providers a no-show risk score for each scheduled patient appointment. Frequent no-shows for appointments can put undue stress on the healthcare system as patients receiving primary and chronic care instead go to A&E. This results in a less efficient use of time and money in the healthcare system which can ultimately lead to higher costs and less than optimal patient outcomes. This model identifies patients with a high risk of missing their appointment so that administrators are able to contact them to remind them about the appointment and ask if they would like to reschedule. As a result of this system, healthcare providers will waste less resources on empty appointments, and patients will save money and potentially obtain earlier appointment times.
