Meeting with Kaunas STP MedTech startups
During final ATHIKA conference key project results and outcomes were presented: innovative educational programme and emerging opportunities of European HEIs and SMEs cooperation. Second part of the conference was dedicated for MedTech start-ups presentation:
#EmPlastrum
EmPlastrum was founded in 2019 by a group of engineers and dermatologists who wanted to create a better way for psoriasis treatment. More than 125 million people worldwide suffer from this disease. Due to the fact, that it is an autoimmune skin disease – it never goes away.
EmPlastrum mission is to shift treatment from hospitals to home. Treat it differently.
With EmPlastrum system patients can have treatment everywhere. EmPlastrum team has developed different size patches with integrated UVB LED’s which are flexible and patients can easily put on their damaged skin places and treat it.
- They would be able to treat several skin places at one time
- Avoid unnecessary UVB rays
- Do other activities during the treatment
#Brachydose
BrachyDOSE is a tool for improved cancer treatment quality control. Specially made for oncologist seeking best results in high dose rate brachytherapy treatment.
BrachyDOSE is a tool that enables oncology doctors to provide more accurate and successful treatments in high dose brachytherapy procedures for breast, cervical and prostate cancer patients. The device measures radiation dose during brachytherapy procedures to provide scientifically based data directly to treatment planning software to reduce under and over dosing. Brachydose has a laboratory tested prototype which is undergoing pre-clinical studies at National Cancer Institute of Lithuania.
BrachyDOSE is a Horizon 2020 Seal of Excellence holder, the winner of Kaunas Startup Accelerator and beneficiary of EIT Health InnoStars Award.
#InoSportas
InoSportas provide a solution (hardware/software/methodology) that help professional and amateur athletes to increase performance in a smart way reducing possibility of injuries.
In order to achieve peak performance in a professional sport the workload needs to be optimal. Overtraining of athletes increases probability of injuries. Undertraining does not let to achieve peak performance.
InoSportas develop a speed training system (hardware/software) that helps to track performance, by measuring speed, force and distance. Measured data is used to calculate performance parameters, seeking features indicating fatigue, disbalance and instantly presented to the coach. The data is saved to a data base.

The meeting with MedTech startups has been closed with exploration of Lithuanian Life Sciences Industry Achievement stand, developed by Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA). Stand interactively presents seven innovations in the filed of health technologies and biotechnologies:
